Like beams of sun
Rushing down the hills
The mountain peaks of distance
The rolling, horizon.
Though the winds of life howl,
Press against your chest.
Like the excited child of the morning,
Like innocence of things unknown
Be blissful, like a child of summer.
Though your enemy waits at the gate,
Though, you feel the anxieties
Of the voices,
The battle of self.
Like the beating of your heart,
Never ceasing while you rest,
While you move or weep.
It beats, without question.
Give faith unto God,
Unto what still awaits
Awaits at the peak of your years.
For you are gifted today
Though rough or calm waters.
You breathe, so try, try, and try.
For living is not perfection
Laughing, being, loving, forgiving.
Like flowers of spring
Bloom, push, reach.
Through the weight of your soil
The permafrost, of your winter.
